Welcome to my site!
I started researching my family background in 1997. Both my parents were deceased and, with one major exception, my sources of information were very limited. Additional information was (and still is) hard to come by, especially because I am living in Denmark, while all my ancestors were from Germany and Poland. Luckily, I had an excellent starting point for the research of my paternal family, namely the work of my uncle, Hermann Textor. He had researched the Textor line of Mössingen, Württemberg, and published his findings in the "Deutsches Geschlechterbuch", vol. 71, 1929.
I am also very indebted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who have placed their Family History Library System at the disposal of the general public. Without this wonderful facility I would not have been able to find so many church records of my ancestors and relatives. Another source of information is the web site of the Society for German Genealogy in Eastern Europe (SGGEE.ORG). They have a very extensive pedigree database, accessible to members only, however. And I am not forgetting the fact that without the Internet, mailing lists, email, etc., much of my research would not have been possible.
And now a little about myself. I was born in 1934 in Warsaw, Poland, and have been living in Denmark since April 1945. Although I have been Danish for a long time now, I have not quite forgotten my Polish/German roots, which is one of the reasons for my genealogical research. I am a retired accountant, married, with three children and six grandchildren, and living in a suburb of Copenhagen.
I have now (Mar. 2007) come to the point of my research where I would like to share my findings with as many people throughout the world as possible, which is why I am publishing my work. I hope it will be interesting to fellow genealogists with a similar background, and lead to a lot of contacts. Although English is not my mother tongue, I have written most of my work in English, hopefully without too many errors, in order to reach as many people as possible.
